Sponsorship Goals

It is the short- and long-term goal of the Sarniat RFC to become, and continue to be, the premier rugby club in the ORU. This includes the promotion and development of youth, women’s and men’s rugby programs along with competitive play.

The Sarnia RFC currently has a solid foundation in place that will help us to easily expand our efforts and programs working towards achieving this goal. Realistically escalating costs associated with the continued expansion of these programs tells us that we cannot reach this goal without the generosity and help of sponsors and/or donors.

The Sarnia RFC welcomes the generosity of both club sponsors and donors. There are two basic club funds established that an individual, organization, or business might contribute towards. They are as follows:

Yearly Operational Expenses Fund: A donation or sponsorship to this fund helps to offset expenses incurred on a yearly basis involving the youth, women’s and men’s programs. This includes but is not limited to the following: Training/match equipment (balls, scrummage machines, ruck and mauling pads, tackling dummies, medical kit…). Game jerseys (5-6 sets of 20 jerseys @ $2500 per set). Field equipment (paint, maintenance, goal post pads, flags…). Tournament registration and travel fees.

Depending on the individual or business, this type of sponsorship could be in the form of a monetary donation or the direct provision of appropriate equipment.

Sarnia RFC Building Fund: The Detroit RFC has established this fund, separate from the Yearly Operational Expenses Fund. It is ultimately the intent of this fund to provide the necessary capital to purchase 10+ acres of land in the immediate Sarnia area. This minimum of 10 acres would provide the club the space to build and establish a quality rugby facility that would include at least two (2) regulation-size rugby pitches along with a modest clubhouse. The clubhouse would provide changing facilities for both the home and visiting rugby club as well as space allowing for the traditional post-match social gathering involving the visiting club(s). This facility would accommodate the youth, women’s and men’s rugby programs.

The benefits of such a facility include: Allows for a centralized, focused location to continually build and expand our developmental as well as established programs upon. Allows us the space to host state as well as nationally sanctioned rugby tournaments and playoffs for all age levels, allowing us to further establish ourselves as the premier rugby club in Ontario. Provides common ground for the interaction with the local community by allowing possible use, if applicable, by local recreation and/or organized sport programs.

The Sarnia RFC has wisely invested money, raised through fundraising, over the past seven years to accumulate what we would define as a nice start to realizing the objective of this fund. Realistically the cost of land, whether vacant or not, is far outpacing the yearly return-on-investment. Contributions to this fund could take on many forms including; monetary donation, land donation, or monetary investment with a potential return-on-investment. If an individual or business is seriously considering donating to this fund, the Sarnia RFC is willing to listen and/or accommodate any requests made by the donor.

Ultimately the Sarnia RFC would expect any form of donation or sponsorship to be beneficial for the contributor as well as the Sarnia RFC and local community. Many times with sponsorships there is the promotion of a sponsors name, product and/or service associated with their donation. Other times with larger monetary contributions, the donor wishes to remain anonymous. Check out the links below to see an outline of the ways that a sponsor can benefit from contributing to the Sarnia RFC although the club will consider and/or respect any rational request from a sponsor or donor.
