The Club welcomes St. Francis Xavier University from Canada to the island on Friday. Justin Lewis (Colleen and Larry Lewis’s son) has been studying at the University for four years and the Club wanted some warm weather rugby training before their season starts.
Freeport would like to thank the individuals and GB Trading Post for making this possible by sponsoring some on the accommodation for St. Francis. Without this assistance the visit would not have been possible.
The Club will be open on Friday, February 17 from 6.30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. to welcome St. Francis and the bar will be open for anyone who wishes to stop by for a beverage.
Games will be on Tuesday and Thursday evening of next week (Feb 21 and 23) and kick-off will be at 6 p.m. Please come out to show support to both teams and enjoy some great rugby. It’s a huge opportunity to get some additional rugby for our team and to show off the facilities of the club for future tours.
Freeport Rugby goes to Nassau on Saturday for a very important game against Baillou in the Bahamas Cup so good luck to the guys and let’s make sure we come back with a win! The game is at 2:00 p.m.
Donnie and Mary’s Soccer finishes its season on Saturday and congratulations to Donnie and Mary for another fantastic program. To see the club on Saturdays so busy with the junior rugby, girls program and on occasions a senior rugby game makes it all worthwhile for the club and the individuals who make these programs possible.
Thanks once more to Bradford Marine who not only have refurbished the scrum machine for the club but have also been helping out with some of the rugby guys who need some part time work.
Six Nations continues next week and we’ll send out the details on the games at the Club.
Special well done to Kacy Charlton who has done a fantastic job with the Soccer program this year. We hosted the College of the Bahamas from Nassau a couple of months ago and Kacy took the Freeport team down for a re-match last month. Lyford Cay are coming Saturday February 25 so well done Kacy and the Soccer guys!
Last but not least, special congratulations to Vic Skinner who has managed to make his 60th birthday in one piece! Vic who always contributes to the club in various ways (bike rides, DIY, bar) has a big weekend ahead with his brother’s band coming to town and hopefully we’ll see as many as possible at Roosters Saturday night for The Producers concert. Congratulations to both gents and we’ll now have to come up with a bus pass for all these guys who are flying through the 60 mark!
